The Tower of Pisa is once again visible

The collapse that has suffered for centuries has made the Tower of Pisa very famous, but the increase in recent years aggravated the experts. Therefore, important repair works have been carried out and finally, after 11 years of closure, it has reopened this weekend.

They have spent many years looking for a proper strategy to lead the tower. From the beginning they received a series of strange proposals: build a replica of the tower and place it in the twisted part to keep it; make 10,000 holes in the tower to lose weight, etc. Thus, liquid nitrogen was introduced into the soil in 1995 to freeze the earth and keep the tower still, but continued to lean. Finally, the simplest solution was chosen: on one side of the tower the terrain was removed so that the tower could return to that side. In this way, they have managed to correct the tower in half degree.

However, worsening is not a problem in recent years. The tower began to be built in 1173, and 12 years later there was already a meter and a half on the base of the tower, between the south and north faces. In fact, the tower was built on clay soils, unstable sediments.

The head of the work, engineer Michele Jamiolkowski, said that the tower should not risk falling for at least 250 years. The Tower of Pisa will therefore be the patron saint of its cathedral.
