2003/12/15 Carton Virto, Eider - Elhuyar Zientzia

On Friday the University of the Basque Country presented on Mars the first book of its collection of scientific dissemination, an Anthropologist of the prestigious Oliver Sacks.

The aim of the collection, ZIO, is to make science-related topics available to all audiences in an appropriate, lively and attractive Basque language. To do this, they will publish successful books worldwide.

The first book in the collection has been an Anthropologist by the prestigious author Oliver Sacks on Mars. In the field of scientific outreach, neurologist Oliver Sacks is a world-class author, widely read and known worldwide. Some of his works have been taken to the cinema and theater: Among other things, Iratzarreta mixed his wife with her hat.

In the book of Mars, an anthropologist, Sacks speaks of the intrinsic and accidental defects of the mind, autism and other diseases, as well as of other more unknown syndromes, of which we can learn, of those who suffer these problems, of joys, impossible and virtues. And above all, man appears with his paradoxes.

The directors of the collection are Juan Garzia Garmendia and Iñaki Ugarteburu Gastañares, from the Basque Country Service of the UPV/EHU, and this first book has been translated into Basque by Xabier Olarra. The design of the collection is by Antton Olariaga.

The collection will be published jointly with the Provincial Council of Bizkaia.
