Science magazine has a technique that can contribute to the survival of endangered salmonids. Two salmon star in the news: trout and salmon. Well, in Japan it has been achieved that the reproductive material of the trout grow inside the salmon.

In fact, male sterile salmon have grown male trout gametes. And the same with females: trout eggs have been introduced to salmon females and trout eggs have been laid.

Researchers have been hopeful for the success of the technique, as salmonid reproductive material is difficult to conserve and the breeding technique of threatened species can be viable to carry out breeding with other species.
